Bermuda

We just spent a week down in beautiful Bermuda. It was definitely a lot of work lugging 2 small children and all the stuff that they require, but it was well worth it! We were with my parents, Sheri & family, and my Aunt Bev & Uncle Chuck, so the kids got lots of special attention, and Claire loved playing with her cousins (whom she is missing very much now that we are home).

The main purpose for the trip was a family wedding.....my cousin Sam married Allie, whose family is from Bermuda. The wedding was at their amazing 26-acre estate. The main house is called Magnolia Hall (see photo), and the estate holds quite a few other houses, stables, pool, & even its own little island & beach. Unfortunately, it rained the entire day, so the ceremony was moved from the garden to the tent, but it was still a 5-star event.

The kids (Drew, Allie, Claire, Alex & Liam) attended the ceremony, then retreated to one of the houses with a babysitter so we could enjoy some adult-time. This allowed us to enjoy a fabulous 5-course meal and eventually Joe was able to entertain us with a tummy slide across the dance floor, followed by his token one-armed pushups.

We spent the rest of the week on the beach/swimming in the coves, at the playground, aquarium, museum, and touring the island via bus, ferry & taxi. Liam was a trooper, but it was a feight to keep him out of the sun. He blessed us with beginning to sleep through the night while we were there. Claire had a blast...her first morning back here at home, she woke up saying, "I want to be at the different house!" Guess she wasn't as thrilled about being "home sweet home" as we were!
